Rob is taken aback by the mess in the studio and asks Li why she has emptied all her stuff from her handbag onto the floor. Li replies, 'there's method to my madness'. What does she mean? Listen and find out. 

롭이 스튜디오에 와서 어리둥절하여 리에게 왜 그녀 핸드백의 물건을 바닥에 쏟아놨는지 물어봤어요. 리가 "Method to my madness"라고 답했어요. 무슨 뜻일까요? 들어보고 알아봐요

Hi everyone, I'm Li. Rob will be here in a few minutes but while I'm waiting for him I must try to find my Travelcard. I couldn't find it this morning. I hope I haven't lost it.

(Sound of Li emptying her handbag... Then the door opens and Rob enters the room)

안녕 여러분, 전 리입니다. 롭이 몇 분후에 도착할거에요 그런데 그를 기다리는 동안 제 여행카드를 찾아야해요. 아침에 못찾았거든요. 잃어버린게 아니었으면 좋겠네요.

(핸드백을 비우는 소리...그리고나서 문이 열리고 롭이 방으로 들어온다.)

Hi Li, sorry I'm late. (Rob looks at Li) Li, what are you doing? You've emptied your handbag all over the floor! 

롭

안녕 리,! 미안 늦었지. (롭이 리를 본다) 리, 뭐하고 있어? 핸드백을 온 바닥에 쏟아놨네!

Oh, hi Rob, I wasn't expecting you to be here so soon. Oh dear, this must look terrible, but believe me, there's method to my madness.

오, 안녕롭, 이렇게 일찍 올 줄은 예상 못했는데. 오 맙소사, 이거 심각하네,

하지만 믿어줘, 내 정신나간 행동에 방식이 있는거야.

You've made a mess all over the floor and you're telling me you've gone mad! 

롭

온 바닥을 어질러놓고 네가 미쳤다고 말하고 있는거야?!

No, I haven't gone mad, well I hope not! The phrase 'there's method to my madness' means that although what I'm doing looks like madness I'm doing it deliberately; I have a reason for doing it.

아니, 나 미치지 않았어, 아 그러지  않길 바라고!  "내 정신나간 행동엔 방식이있어"라는 표현이 뜻하는 건 비록 내가 하고 있는 일이 정신나간 행동같이 보이지만, 일부러 그걸 하는 거라는 거야. 그러니까 그걸 하는 이유가 있어.

I'm only joking Li. Of course I know this phrase. 'There's method to my madness' or you could say 'there's method in my madness', means you are doing something that looks strange but you have a plan and really, you are doing something very sensible.

그냥 농담한거야 리. 물론 나도 그 표현알아. "내 정신나간 행동에 방식이 있어 (혹은 내 정신나간 행동 속에는 방식이 있어)의 뜻은 무언하 이상해보이는 일을 하고 있지만 계획이 있는 거고 정말 합리적인 무언가를 하고 있다는 거야.

Yes, that's exactly right. I've emptied my handbag over the floor because it will be easier and quicker to find my Travelcard. Then I'll re-pack my handbag.

B: There's method to my madness. I'm taking a photo of the books I'm putting away. The photos will help me locate the books more easily.

차를 타고 내 친구집으로 갈건데 긴 경로로 갈거야 고속도로를 피해서 말이야. 내 정신나간 행동에는 방식이 있어, 내가 생각에 고속도로는 정말 붐빌거야 그래서 긴 길이 더 빠를거야
